Boston 2009 TDOR Observance
- Friday, November 20
- 7-9:30pm
- St. Luke's & St. Margaret's in Allston
(same as last year) [map]
A program of invited speakers and the traditional community speakout will be followed by a candlelight vigil in the neighborhood where Rita Hester lived until her murder in 1998. We will again this year be retracing part of the path taken by the original vigil for Rita, in 1998, that inspired the International Transgender Day of Remembrance.
Everyone is welcome to participate in planning for this year's Boston TDOR event. To participate in organizing this year's event, please visit the Yahoo group "BostonTransDOR," which contains all the information about organizing meetings and how the event is organized.
The Annual Day of Remembrance memorializes individuals who have been killed throughout the world in the previous year because of anti-transgender hatred. Since last year's event, 18 people are known to have been murdered because of their gender identity or gender expression.
